Cycling Tour around Yangshuo and Longsheng: 7 Days

Difficulty Level: Strenuous

Day 1: Before we start the cycling tour, we’ll meet you in Guilin airport and drive you in our private car to your Yangshuo Hotel. You can rest and relax before you begin the tour.

Day 2: We’ll cycle to the ancient town of Xingping from Yangshuo. We’ll also take a cruise to Yangdi and back before staying the night in Xingping.

Duration: 3 hours

Route: Yangshuo----Fuli----Donglan Hill----Xingping

Note: We also take the boat cruise to Yangdi from Xingping and back in the afternoon.

Itinerary: We’ll meet you in the hotel at 8:30 am. We’ll cycle along the main road to Fuli Town which will take around an hour and 20 minutes.

We’ll take a right turn off the main road onto a smaller countryside road to Xingping Town. We can then explore this ancient town and check into the hotel there near the river. We’ll keep the bicycles at the hotel. After that, we’ll go to a farmhouse restaurant to have lunch.

After lunch, we’ll take a bamboo boat or fishing boat to Yangdi along the most beautiful stretch of the Li River. We’ll return again by boat and stay the night at the hotel where we have stored our bicycles. We’ll get an early night in anticipation of an intensive day 3.

Day 3: We’ll cycle from Xingping to the Yulong River.

Distance: 42 km

Duration: 6-7 hours

Route: Xingping----Hebao Hill----Daling Village----Ancient Stone Village---- Putao Town----Baisha----Yulong Bridge----Jiuxian Village----Xiatang Zai Village

Itinerary: We’ll get up early to see the sunrise over the Li River. We can take a local fishing boat across the Li River with our bikes. We’ll continue on the cycling tour along a small countryside trail.

You will see the famous Snail Hill by the riverside before arriving at Dazhou Ling Village. We will have to get off our bikes at times and push our them up some steep slopes. The road was made in the Qing Dynasty and is lined with stones. After around 1 km the road becomes easier to cycle on.

After about 40 minutes you can see the famous Hebao Hill. This peak is a famous destination for professional and amateur photographers. We can climb to the top and enjoy a great view across the karst landscape. Nine Horse Mural Hill and Huang Bu Shoal are visible from this view point.

From here, we’ll then head on to the ancient stone village. The terrain here is a little rough and the path rises and falls somewhat sharply. From the stone village we’ll head to Putao Town which will take around 2 hours.

We can then take a break and head along the main road to Baisha and the Yulong River. We’ll cross a bridge to the other side and continue to Xiatang Zai village which will take an hour and 30 minutes. There is a nice spot to go swimming there. You can also jump from the bridge into the river. It’s a truly beautiful location. We can stay the night in a guesthouse there.

Day 4: We’ll continue the cycling tour along the Yulong River and enjoy some breathtaking scenery.

Distance: 30 km.

Duration: 4-5 hours.

Route: Xiatang Zai village---Chaoyang Village----Yima Village----Gongnong Bridge----Moon Hill----Longmeng Village----Siliu Village----Aishan Hill----Yangshuo

Itinerary: After breakfast we’ll carry on the cycling tour and ride from Xiatang Zai Village along the Yulong River. After we pass paddy fields and several small villages, we reach the famous Moon Hill. We’ll climb the 800 steps to the top and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view from this famous view point. After coming down, we’ll have lunch at the foot of the hill in a farmhouse restaurant.

In the afternoon, we’ll carry on the cycling tour into the countryside for 3 hours. In the evening, we’ll get back to Yangshuo town where we will stay the night.

Day 5: Today you have a relaxing day exploring Yangshuo town.

It’s a cosmopolitan town with a mixture of coffee shops and restaurants. In the morning you can choose from a range of activities including a cooking or tai chi class, massage etc. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Longsheng Rice Terraces which will take around 3 hours. We’ll walk up to Ping An village which takes around 40 minutes and then stay the night in a guesthouse there.

Day 6: On this day you can choose between two options. Both options take us into areas not commonly visited by tourists. We’ll head to Guilin city in the early evening which will take around 2 and a half hours. Guilin is renowned as being one of the most idyllic cities in China. We’ll stay the night there.

Option 1)

We hike to the Zhuang Ethnic Minority Village. This usually takes around 2 hours. We can explore the village after having lunch. We then return to Ping An village.

Option 2)

We will hike to Zhong Liu Yao Minority Village. This is not a popular tourist area, so the path is not wide. It is an untouched area and we always get a friendly welcome from the locals. It's the perfect destination to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Day 7: We’ll transfer you to Guilin airport in our private car. If you have a later departure time, we can visit some of the main tourist attractions in Guilin like Elephant Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave.
