9 Day Tour around Guilin, Yangshuo and Guizhou
DAY 1: Airport Pick-Up
We meet you at Guilin Airport and then drive you to your hotel which takes about 30 minutes. We'll stay in the city for a night.
DAY 2: Zhujiang Pier- Yangshuo Cruise along the Li River
After meeting at the hotel at 8am, we will drive to Guilin Zhujiang Pier and then
take a boat from Guilin to Yangshuo on the Lijiang river
which takes about 4 hours. This cruise is famous for its view of the beautiful Karst mountains that line the river. We have lunch on the boat. We arrive in
Yangshuo
from
Guilin
around 1pm. After taking a rest, you can choose one of the following options:
OPTION 1-
Cycle on mountain bikes to the Yulong River.
It differs from the Li River in the way it is surrounded by farmland. Then we cycle to
Moon Hill
and
The Big Banyan Tree.
We'll return to Yangshuo through several small villages using some remote pathways.
OPTION 2- We drive to the Yulong River, stopping at several villages. Then we go to the Big Banyan Tree and Moon Hill before returning to Yangshuo by car to stay the night.
DAY 3: Yangshuo- Longji
We will meet in the morning at 8am and then drive by car to
Longji
which takes about 2 and a half hours. Our first stop is Peng An
Zhuang
minority village which is nestled amidst the famous and beautiful rice terraces that were built 650 years ago.
The Ladies from
the Yao minority
in the village are mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records for having the longest hair in the world. We will hike along the terraces and up small paths to the top of one of the mountains. We will come back down and stay the night in the village.
DAY 4: Longji- Shanjiang-Chengyang Bridge
We will leave Longji at 8am and head to Shanjiang, stopping occasionally to enjoy some spectacular views! We will arrive at Chengyang bridge and have lunch. Then, we will visit "The Wind and rain Bridge" which was built in 1916. and is the most impressive and largest of its type in the Dong stockade villages.
The surface of the bridge is paved with wooden boards and both sides are inlayed with railings. The bridge has been likened to a dragon crouching over the river. It is a fine example of Chinese wood-based architecture. it is interesting to note that no nails or rivets were used in the construction of this wood and stone structure. The renowned craftsmen of
the Dong People
dove-tailed many pieces of wood.
We will stay the night in shanjiang hotel.
DAY 5: Shangjiang-Diping Bridge- Zhaoxing
We will leave for zhao xing at 8:00 am. On the way we will stop at Diping Bridge where we will relax and enjoy the architectural splendour of the bridge, set against the stunning natural surroundings. Then we will go to Zhaoxing Dong Minority village which is the largest and oldest Dong village in China and the world. There are five Drum Towers, Wind & Rain Bridges and traditional stages. The place and culture is very much in harmony with nature and is a far cry from the urban lifestyle that many of us are accustomed to. We will stay in Zhaoxing hotel. DAY 6: Zhaoxing-Congjiang-Basha-Gaozeng Dong village
We will leave Zhaoxing at 8am and drive to Congjiang. It takes 3 hours. We'll take a break and the move on to Basha Miao Village which is Only 5 kilometers away from Congjiang with a highway running to it.
Basha is a very special and old
Miao
Ethnic village. The villagers still practice their unique traditions dating back to the Qing Dynasty (about 2200 years ago). It has been left virtually untouched by modernization and tourism. Residents there still live in their wooden houses, preserving and practising centuries-old customs.
In the afternoon we will go to Gaozeng Dong Minority village which is six hundred years old. Few tourists visit here. It is famous for its Drum towers, built in the Qing Dynasty. The scenery is particularly pretty here. We'll go back to stay the night in Congjiang.
DAY 7: Congjing-Ronjiang- Chejiang Dong Village Fong Deng Dong Village
We will leave at 8 am and drive to Rongjing. It is an old town with a history going back over 2000 years.Then we head to CheJiang which will take around 40 minutes. We will take a look around the village and look at the famous Drum Tower.We'll then take a thirty minute drive to FongDeng which is renowned for its calm and tranquil setting. After that, we can visit a small local school with just 3 classrooms. The kids may be a little shy at first, since they are not accustomed to foreigners although they soon become eager to make friends and learn new things. In the past, the kids have taught foreigners a few of the local dance steps in exchange for picking up a little English. After taking in the view we'll back head to Ronjiang where we will stay the night. DAY 8: Ronjiang- Leishang- xijiang- Kaili
We will leave Ronjiang at 8 am to drive to Leishang which is a forest area with an attractive lake. We will take in the wondeful scenery and then have lunch at a restaurant.
Then we will drive to The Xijiang Miao Minority Village which is the largest in China belonging to this ethnic group. It is actually in effect 2 villages built on the slopes of separate hills. Over 1000 families live in the traditional houses hugging the hills. We can visit some of the families and get an idea of their daily routine. Then we drive to Kaili and stay the night in a star hotel.
DAY 9: From Kaili we will drive you to Guiyang Airport which takes 2 hours.
