Guilin and Yangshuo Weather
Spring
Spring is one of the best times to visit Guilin and Yangshuo. It starts to warm up in March. The temperature is ideal from April to May. It’s sunny and warm, but not too humid. This makes doing long cycle rides and hikes much more comfortable. The landscape is bursting with new plant life of course, so it’s a beautiful time to explore the countryside. It’s also a good time to visit Longsheng although expect it to be a little cooler there because of the higher altitude.
Summer
The Summer really begins in June in Guilin and Yangshuo. At around the end of May, we see the beginning of the rainy season which lasts into the middle of June usually. The weather becomes increasingly humid peaking in temperature in July and August. If you are sensitive to the sun, make sure to wear a hat and apply sun block regularly.
Autumn
Autumn is the best time to visit the area. The Summer often stretches into September with temperatures eventually cooling slowly. The weather is really ideal in this period up until November with the temperature only really starting to drop significantly in December. It does usually become a little overcast from November, although there isn’t usually a lot of rain at this time of year.
Winter
This is not the most ideal time to visit the area although it is a very quiet time if you want to get get away from the crowds. The weather is often grey and overcast although there are still warm and sunny days.. The Winter of 2007/ 2008 was unusually cold across Southern China, but this is far from the norm.
