Hiking Tour: 4 Days in Yangshuo

Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Day 1- Before starting the hiking tour, we’ll meet you in Guilin airport and transfer you by private car to your hotel in Guilin. We’ll visit the main tourist attractions in Guilin like Elephant Trunk Hill and the Four Lakes. You can stay the night in Guilin.

Day 2- We’ll make an early start and we will drive you from Guilin to Yangdi village, which is a small picturesque village near the Li River. The stretch of the Li River from Yangdi to Xingping is the most beautiful.

We will start the hiking tour from Yangdi to Xingping, crossing the river several times by fishing boat. The distance is 20 km. This hike usually takes around 5 hours. On the way we will pass many riverside villages, catching a glimpse of the rural lifestyle of the inhabitants as well as enjoying the stunning scenery.

We’ll have lunch in one of these villages. Most of the way we’ll walk along countryside paths. When we get to the ancient town of Xingping, we will have a look around the town and then catch a local bus back to Yangshuo. We’ll stay the night in Yangshuo.

Day 3- We’ll meet you in the hotel in the morning and drive you to the Yulong River. The scenery here is among the best in the area. Usually people take bamboo rafts on this river as it is too small for larger boats. We’ll cross over to the other side by bridge to begin our hike. This route is quieter and the small trail will get us away from other tourists. For lunch we can either prepare a picnic hamper for you or we can have lunch with a local family.

After 4 hours hiking along the riverside trail, we’ll arrive at the famous Moon Hill. Then we can take a rest. In the afternoon at around 3pm we will climb the 800 steps to the top of Moon Hill. The panoramic view from here is truly spectacular! We’ll then take a minivan back to Yangshuo in the evening and stay the night there.

Day 4- The plan for this day depends on your departure time. If it’s early we can transfer you to Guilin airport in our private car. If you have a later flight, we can take a local bus to see the two ancient bridges near Yangshuo. Both bridges are around 600 years old and the rural setting is very picturesque. This is a nice way to finish the hiking tour. We’ll then transfer you to the airport for your flight.
