The city of Guilin is located in the north-east of Guangxi Province, covering an area of 27,800 square km. Yangshuo is about 65km South of its neighbouring city. It covers an area of 1400 square km with a population of 30, 000. It's famous for its breathtaking natural beauty, nestled as it is alongside the Li River and surrounded by mountains.
It has become a centre for backpackers, cyclists and rock climbers as well as for those just seeking some easily found peace and quiet in harmonious natural surroundings. The area is also famous for Moon Hill as well as its many rivers.
West Street in Yangshuo is lined with a cosmopolitan mix of shops, cafes and bars which complement the towns traditional feel. The town has a rich cultural history going back over 1400 years.
Travelling to Yangshuo is easy. You can go by bus from the city (1 hour and 20 minutes) or take a boat cruise which takes 4-5 hours.
The climate in the area is subtropical, so the weather is good for most of the year.
