Longmen Cave in Yangshuo

Longmen Cave is located near Longmen vilige about 3km from Moon Hill. It is the largest natural cave in Yangshuo and was also used as shelter to hide away from the Japanese army during World War II. In its entirety, the cave is about 3km in length and passes through 3 mountains. The water in the cave is shallow with a gentle current and a boat trip along an underground stream is part of the route visitors must take.

Longmen Cave in Yangshuo

The passageways in the cave are sometimes narrow and squeezing your way through cramped spaces as well as climbing steep paths and ladders means a good level of fitness is required.

A guide and torch are essential and you should also make sure you don’t wear nice clothing. There have been injuries in the cave, so it’s importantly to progress slowly and with caution through this underground network.

The stalactites are stalagmites are very visually impressive and range in size and shape. In the summer months you can also enjoy bathing in the muddy pools. Groups usually enjoy taking some snaps of their mud bath and the underground waterfall.
