Outdoor Activities in the Guilin and Yangshuo Area

The Li River Cruise. No trip to Yangshuo and Guilin is complete without a cruise along the fabulous Li River. The mountains here are spellbindingly beautiful and have been an inspiration to artists for countless centuries!




Cycling. The landscape in the area is best seen by bicycle. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or just looking for a bit of light exercise, there is an endless selection of routes.




Hot Air Ballooning. Drift over the karst mountains in a hot air balloon and have a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape. This truly is a breathtaking experience!




Rock Climbing Climbers scaling the limestone cliffs make for some spectacular photos although you don’t have to tackle anything quite so dramatic!





Caving. The caves around the area are the most impressive in the province and are well worth taking a look. Caving enthusiasts are in heaven!





Camping This is one of the best ways to see and experience the countryside around the area! There are many idyllic locations from which to choose.





Swimming. There are many spots to swim along the Li and Yulong Rivers. Some of then are just fifteen to twenty minutes away by bicycle.





Cormorant Fishing See the local fisherman take out these impressive birds on their bamboo rafts, utilizing their natural swimming ability and long necks to dive down under the water.

Kayaking Ease your way down the Li River and enjoy some fantastic views of the karst mountains and see the farmers working in the paddy fields
