7 Day Tour around Guilin, Yangshuo and Guizhou
DAY 1: Airport Pick-up- Yangshuo TownWe will meet you in Guilin Airport and drive you to a three star hotel in the town, which will take about an 1 hour and 30 minutes. DAY 2: Lijiang River- Yulong River
After meeting at the hotel at 8 am we will rent good quality mountain bikes and
cycle to the Yulong River from Yangshuo.
We will see some absolutely stunning scenery. We will then put our bicycles aboard bamboo rafts and enjoy a river cruise for an hour and thirty minutes which takes us to the famous
Big Banyan Tree.
Then we cycle to
Moon Hill
and then return to
Yangshuo
going through some small villages along some small paths. We'll have lunch in the town and then we'll drive to
Xingping
at 3pm which takes 30 minutes. This small riverside town is ancient and is famous for its view across the Li River which is captured on the 20 RMB note.
We take a boat to Yangdi and back from the pier for about an hour and forty minutes and enjoy one of the most beautiful stretches of the Li River. The sunsets are often particularly beautiful here in the Summer, so keep your cameras at the ready! We'll then drive back to Yangshuo and then stay the night.
DAY 3: Yangshuo-Shanjiang
We will leave Yangshuo at 8:00 am. It will take three and a half hours to get to Sanjiang. Then, we will visit "The Wind and rain Bridge" which was built in 1916. and is the most impressive and largest of its type in the Dong stockade villages.
The surface of the bridge is paved with wooden boards and both sides are inlayed with railings. The bridge has been likened to a dragon crouching over the river. It is a fine example of Chinese wood-based architecture. it is interesting to note that no nails or rivets were used in the construction of this wood and stone structure. The renowned craftsmen of the
Dong People
dove-tailed many pieces of wood. We will stay the night in Shanjiang hotel.
DAY4: Shangjiang-Zhaoxing
We will leave for Zhao Xing at 8:00 am. On the way there are lots of attractions, some of which we can stop to see. We will arrive in Zhao Xing which is the largest and oldest Dong village in China and the world. There are five Drum Towers, Wind & Rain Bridges and traditional stages. The place and culture is very much in harmony with nature and is a far cry from the urban lifestyle that many of us are accustomed to. We will stay in Zhaoxing hotel. DAY 5: Zhaoxing-Congjiang-Basha-Rongjiang
We will go to Basha via Congjiang, departing at 8:00 am. It will take 3 hours to get there. Basha Miao Village is Only 5 kilometers away from Congjiang with a highway running to it. Basha is a very special and old
Miao Ethnic village.
The villagers still practice their unique traditions dating back to the Qing Dynasty (about 2200 years ago).
It has been left virtually untouched by modernization and tourism. Residents there still live in their wooden houses, preserving and practising centuries-old customs. After Basha, we will visit Xiaohuang village to get an idea of the rural lifestyles of this farming community. Then take a car to Rongjiang.
We stay the night in Rongjiang hotel.
DAY 6: Rongjiang-Leishan-Xijiang Miao Minority village
We will meet at the hotel at 8:00 am and drive around Rongjiang county. It is an old town with a history going back over 2000 years. It is a holy land where the Dong & Miao ethnic minorities originated from. Then set off from Rongjiang to Leishan, take a rest and then have lunch.
In the afternoon, we will drive to Xi Jiang Miao Minority village which is 36km away from Leishan county. The village is the largest in the area and is renowned in China. This village differs from the other villages, as all the residents are of the Miao ethnic group.
We will drive to kaili at night and stay in a Kaili hotel.
DAY 7: Kaili- Guiyang Airport
We will drive you to Guiyang Airport which will take 2 hours.
Then head off to your next destination.
