Yangshuo: Huangbu Shoal

Huangbu Shoal is also known as Yellow Cloth Shoal. It is located near Xingping town in Yangshuo County. The easiest way to get there is to hire a boat at Xingping wharf. It is possible to take a car there from Xingping and drive for around 3 km. However, this route requires a 4x4 vehicle (SUV), so it’s not convenient.

Xingping Huang Bu Shoal

The name ‘Huangbu Shoal’ is derived from a large rock formation that is said to look like a piece of yellow cloth. This is one of the most famous spots for photography and sightseeing on the Li River.

Photos taken from this location have become iconic representations of the area. They often combine the misty karst mountain scenery that is reflected in the water with the bamboo boats that gently ease down the river. Villages now charge a small fee for photographer wanting to visit this location.
