Yangshuo: Yangdi

This small village is situated in the Guilin and Yangshuo area. It's location on the west bank of the Li River means there is some particularly impressive scenery to see. There is a popular hiking trail between Yangdi and Xingping, taking you past clusters of bamboo, waterfalls and of course great views of the peaks and the river. In fact, the stretch of river between Yangdi and Xingping is the most beautiful part of the Li River.

You can catch a bus to Xingping from Yangshuo (which takes around an hour) and then hike to Yangdi which takes from 4-6 hours. You can then take a bamboo boat, or a specially arranged fishing boat and cruise back to Xingping before catching the return bus.

It’s also possible to maneuver the boat to the best viewing points which are ideal for photography as well as one particularly ideal riverside spot.

Photographers can also take the bus to Yangdi from Xingping and then get off at the top of an incline when the Li River comes into view. There’s a trail going further uphill here that leads up to a TV tower. This is an excellent spot for taking photos with views of both Yangdi and the village of Langshi.
